Poltical.....
I don't want to get political but does anyone else think Stephanie Myers is being a bit whiny when she stops work on her 5th novel in the Twilight series because somebody leaked an unfinished manuscript onto the web and she feels sad about it?

I can certainly understand her being hurt, disappointed, disillusioned, and even depressed over someone she trusted essentially betraying her. And of course creator's rights are a big, big concern in this digital day and age, and she's probably worried that the leak has stolen the thunder of the new book, a not-inconsiderable marketing issue. Certainly a public statement from her on the matter was warranted. But the tone of her statement comes across as self-pitying and even petty, and, as you say, she is only punishing her fanbase if she never finishes the book or even if there's a lengthy delay. I think there is real potential for a backlash and long-term damage to her career, depending on how this plays out.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that her public reaction -- no matter what her personal feelings may be -- is presenting the wrong image. She's coming across as immature, in my opinion, like she's stamping her foot and throwing out her bottom lip. A better way to handle it would've been to acknowledge the leak, formally express some disappointment, and simply say that Midnight Sun may be delayed while she works out some of the issues the leak has raised.
